Leaves of Grass (2009)

An Ivy League professor returns home, where his pot-growing twin brother has concocted a plan to take down a local drug lord.

The Quartile Take

Edward Norton's dual performance as the twin brothers is the film's standout achievement, bringing genuine charisma and distinction to both roles. The premise cleverly blends intellectual fish-out-of-water comedy with crime thriller elements, though the tonal shifts between dark comedy and violence can feel uneven. The cinematography is serviceable but unremarkable for an indie film of its era. The ending feels abrupt and somewhat unsatisfying given the investment in the characters, leaving threads insufficiently resolved. The film has a distinctive voice largely thanks to Norton but doesn't fully transcend its genre conventions.
