Stargate: Continuum (2008)

Quartile rating: 7/10 · 1 rating

Ba'al travels back in time and prevents the Stargate program from being started. SG-1 must somehow restore history.

The Quartile Take

Stargate: Continuum is a solid direct-to-video TV movie that satisfies fans of the franchise. The time-travel plot is entertaining and gives the cast room to play alternate versions of their characters, but the story follows a fairly predictable 'restore the timeline' formula familiar from the series itself. Acting is competent and comfortable from the veteran cast. Cinematography is decent for a TV production, with some genuinely impressive location shooting in the Arctic. The concept of Ba'al resetting history is fun but not particularly novel within the Stargate universe or sci-fi broadly. The ending resolves things tidily but without much surprise.
