A mild-mannered bank executive mentors a teenage con artist and tries to make a career change as a doughnut merchant.

The Quartile Take

Meet Bill is a middling mid-life crisis comedy-drama that follows well-worn territory of the disenchanted suburban everyman finding himself through an unlikely mentorship. Aaron Eckhart gives a committed performance that elevates the material somewhat, and the supporting cast (Elizabeth Banks, Jessica Alba) is capable, but the film never transcends its formulaic premise. The cinematography is competent but unremarkable, fitting squarely into the aesthetic of mid-2000s indie-adjacent comedies. The premise of mentoring a teenage con artist offers modest quirk but nothing distinctly original. The ending provides modest emotional satisfaction without feeling fully earned. Overall a watchable but forgettable entry in the genre.
