In this animated follow-up to Fairytopia, Elina enlists the help of a mermaid, Nori, to save her friend Nalu, a merman prince who has been captured by the wicked Laverna.
Barbie Fairytopia: Mermaidia is a competent direct-to-video animated sequel that delivers exactly what its young target audience expects. The plot is a straightforward rescue quest with minimal surprises, recycling familiar fairy-tale and mermaid tropes without much invention. Voice acting is serviceable but unremarkable, consistent with the Barbie DTV standard. The 3D animation was decent for its era and budget but not visually distinctive. Novelty is low as it follows the Fairytopia formula closely, blending fairy and mermaid worlds in a way that feels more like brand extension than genuine creative vision. The ending resolves neatly and satisfyingly for its audience, giving it a slight edge over the other categories.
