Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating
Kronk, now chef and Head Delivery Boy of Mudka's Meat Hut, is fretting over the upcoming visit of his father. Kronk's father always disapproved of young Kronk's culinary interests and wished that Kronk instead would settle down with a wife and a large house on a hill.
Kronk's New Groove is a direct-to-video sequel that leans heavily on the charm of its predecessor without bringing much new to the table. The plot is thin and episodic, structured around loosely connected vignettes rather than a cohesive narrative. The voice cast, particularly Patrick Warburton, brings genuine comedic energy that elevates the material. The animation is noticeably lower quality than the original theatrical release, typical of Disney's direct-to-video output of the era. Novelty is very low — it's a formulaic sequel that recycles jokes and character beats from The Emperor's New Groove without adding a distinctive voice or fresh concept. The ending is predictable and tidy, wrapping up without much earned emotional weight.
