The Quartile Take

2 Guns is a competent but formulaic buddy-action-comedy that leans heavily on the chemistry between Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg to carry it through a convoluted but functional plot. The performances from both leads are charismatic and entertaining, though the supporting cast is more serviceable than standout. Cinematography is unremarkable and generic for the genre. The plot's twists-within-twists structure adds some energy but the overall setup—mismatched partners, double-crosses, corrupt institutions—is well-worn territory with little that feels fresh or distinctive. The ending resolves things in a crowd-pleasing but predictable fashion. A solidly entertaining middle-of-the-road actioner.
