For a grieving fiancée, learning to love again requires the help of her late love's three best friends.
Catch and Release is a fairly formulaic romantic drama that follows well-worn grieving-woman-finds-love-again territory. The plot offers few surprises and leans heavily on sentimental conventions of the genre. The acting is the strongest element, with Jennifer Garner and Timothy Olyphant bringing some warmth and credibility to their roles. Cinematography is serviceable but unremarkable. The ending resolves predictably. Novelty is low as the film largely recycles familiar romcom beats without a distinctive voice or conception.
