Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating
An arrogant but charismatic ladies' man finds his life of money, power and casual flings upended when he wakes up in a parallel world dominated by women.
Ladies First is a gender-swapped fantasy comedy that leans heavily on a well-worn premise — the privileged male protagonist displaced into a world that mirrors his own sexism back at him. The 'parallel universe' conceit and 'female empowerment' framing are recognizable from numerous prior films and TV entries in this space, and the 'womanizer gets his comeuppance' arc offers little structural surprise. The remake tag further confirms its derivative DNA. Acting appears competent enough to carry the comedic beats but unlikely to transcend the material. Cinematography in this genre rarely distinguishes itself, and nothing in the keywords or overview suggests visual ambition. The ending is predictably redemptive given the setup. A middling execution of a familiar concept that scores modestly across the board.
