An ordinary Lego mini-figure, mistakenly thought to be the extraordinary MasterBuilder, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil Lego tyrant from conquering the universe.
The Lego Movie earns standout marks for its stunning, brick-perfect cinematography that mimics stop-motion while being fully CG — a genuinely remarkable visual achievement. Its novelty is equally high: the film subverts the chosen-one narrative with surprising meta-wit and emotional depth, culminating in a live-action twist that reframes everything. The plot is fun and energetic but leans on familiar beats, and the ending, while emotionally resonant, is slightly rushed in its resolution. Voice acting is solid across the board but not transformative. Overall a surprisingly smart and visually inventive crowd-pleaser.
