A veteran pot dealer creates a fake family as part of his plan to move a huge shipment of weed into the U.S. from Mexico.
We're the Millers is a competent but formulaic road comedy that leans heavily on its fish-out-of-water premise and ensemble chemistry. The plot hits expected beats — mismatched strangers bond while navigating a criminal caper — without much surprise. The cast (Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, Will Poulter) delivers solid comedic performances, with Poulter as a standout, but nothing transcends the genre. Cinematography is functional at best, typical of mainstream studio comedies with no distinctive visual identity. The concept of a fake family smuggling drugs is mildly clever but the execution follows a well-worn template, offering little that feels genuinely fresh. The ending wraps up too neatly and predictably, resolving every thread in an overly tidy, feel-good fashion that undermines any edge the film might have had.
