An affable underachiever finds out he's fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago. Now he must decide whether or not to come forward when 142 of them file a lawsuit to reveal his identity.
Delivery Man is a competent but unremarkable American remake of the French-Canadian film Starbuck, losing some of the original's charm in translation. Vince Vaughn brings his usual affable energy to the lead role, and the ensemble of adult children provides some warmth, but the film relies heavily on formulaic feel-good comedy beats. The cinematography is pedestrian TV-movie quality, and the ending wraps things up in a predictable, saccharine bow. As a remake, its novelty is inherently limited — the premise is borrowed and the execution by-the-numbers, squandering the more interesting aspects of the concept.
