Leela becomes an outlaw when she and a group of ecologically-minded feminists attempt to save an asteroid of primitive life forms and the Violet Dwarf star from being destroyed, while Fry joins a secret society and attempts to stop a mysterious species known as the "Dark Ones" from destroying all life in the universe.
The fourth and final Futurama direct-to-DVD movie wraps the series (at the time) with a dual-threaded plot balancing eco-feminist satire and cosmic mythology. The storytelling is serviceable and funny in classic Futurama fashion, though the dual plotlines feel somewhat overstuffed and uneven. Voice acting is as dependably charming as ever from the main cast. Animation is competent but unremarkable for a direct-to-video production — no particular visual ambition beyond the series standard. Novelty is moderate: it's distinctly Futurama in voice and humor but follows the same formula as the other DVD movies. The ending, while emotionally resonant as a series finale (setting up a cliffhanger into the revival), lands with mixed effect — satisfying for fans but abrupt in its cosmic resolution.
