Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating
One hundred superstar comedians tell the same very, VERY dirty, filthy joke--one shared privately by comics since Vaudeville.
The Aristocrats is a genuinely one-of-a-kind documentary concept — a single filthy joke dissected across 100 comedians — making it almost unrepeatable in its premise and execution. The novelty is undeniable. However, the 'plot' is essentially nonexistent beyond its framing device, and the fly-on-the-wall documentary cinematography is purely functional. The acting/performance category benefits from the sheer caliber and range of comedic talent on display. The ending, while appropriately meta, doesn't land with the punch the buildup promises.
