Quartile rating: 5.5/10 · 1 rating
On Quartile, Tarzan II scores 5.5/10 across five categories — strongest on Plot (Above Average), weakest on Acting (Below Average).
When one of his missteps puts his family in jeopardy, Tarzan decides they would be better off without him.
Tarzan II is a direct-to-video midquel that fills in a minor gap in Tarzan's origin story. The plot is formulaic and thin, retreading familiar jungle-adventure beats without adding meaningful depth to the mythology. The animation is noticeably lower quality than the theatrical original, with flat cinematography typical of Disney's direct-to-video output of the era. Voice acting is competent but unremarkable, with Phil Collins returning for some musical moments that feel like pale echoes of the original. Novelty is limited — the midquel framing is a minor twist but the execution is largely by-the-numbers. The ending offers little surprise or emotional payoff. A serviceable but forgettable entry that exists primarily to extend the franchise commercially.
