Ex (2009) is an Italian ensemble romantic comedy following the intersecting lives of six people reconnecting with former partners. The plot is familiar and formulaic, following well-worn romantic comedy conventions without much surprise. The ensemble cast delivers competent and occasionally charming performances, giving the film some life. The cinematography is functional but unremarkable. The concept of ex-lovers reconnecting is thoroughly explored territory with little distinctive voice or original execution. The ending ties things up in a reasonably satisfying if predictable way.
