Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five (2008)

Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating

Ordered to teach a martial arts class of rambunctious bunny kittens, Po tells stories of each of the Furious Five's pasts.

The Quartile Take

This short film spinoff follows a simple framing device of Po narrating origin stories for the Furious Five to a class of young bunnies. The plot is thin and episodic by design, lacking the dramatic weight of the main film. The voice acting is competent and charming, carried by Jack Black's enthusiastic Po. The animation mixes the franchise's signature 3D style with 2D sequences for the flashback stories, which adds some visual interest. However, the concept is fairly formulaic as a supplementary TV short, offering little that feels truly distinctive beyond what the original film established. The ending is gentle and low-stakes, wrapping up without much impact.
