Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as "Tomorrowland."
Tomorrowland has an intriguing premise and genuine visual imagination in its depiction of a utopian future city, but the execution is uneven. The plot starts promisingly with mystery and wonder but grows increasingly muddled and preachy in the third act, culminating in an ending that feels rushed and unsatisfying given the buildup. George Clooney and Britt Robertson deliver competent performances, with Raffey Cassidy standing out as Athena. The cinematography is polished and the production design is genuinely inventive in places. However, the film's concept, while ambitious, doesn't fully cohere — the message about optimism and saving the future is heavy-handed. It has some distinctive qualities but doesn't quite achieve the singular vision it reaches for.
