Return to Never Land (2002)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

In 1940, the world is besieged by World War II. Wendy, all grown up, has two children; including Jane, who does not believe Wendy's stories about Peter Pan.

The Quartile Take

Return to Never Land is a competent but formulaic direct-sequel to Peter Pan that recycles the original's premise with a next-generation protagonist. The WWII backdrop is a mildly interesting touch but underutilized. Animation quality is noticeably below the Disney Renaissance standard, the plot beats are predictable, and the acting is serviceable but unremarkable. The ending resolves neatly but without emotional weight. Nothing in the film distinguishes it significantly from a mid-tier Disney sequel.
