In order to wipe out the Gaulish village by any means necessary, Caesar plans to absorb the villagers into Roman culture by having an estate built next to the village to start a new Roman colony.
Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods is a competent and charming adaptation of the beloved Goscinny/Uderzo comic album, translated faithfully into 3D animation. The plot captures the satirical spirit of the source material well, skewering Roman imperialism and gentrification with wit, earning a solid above-average mark. The animation is colorful and serviceable but not particularly distinguished cinematographically. The voice acting is functional but unexceptional, with performances rarely elevating the material. Novelty is moderate — it brings a classic comic story to a new format with reasonable fidelity and some genuine personality, though it remains within the well-established Asterix universe. The ending wraps up predictably and without much punch, as expected from the franchise formula.
