Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity's final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began - The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
The Final Chapter is a by-the-numbers conclusion to an already formulaic franchise. The plot recycles familiar beats — Alice racing against a countdown, Umbrella conspiracies, a 'shocking' twist about her identity — without adding meaningful new ideas. Acting is serviceable at best, with Milla Jovovich carrying the film on charisma alone. The cinematography is hampered by notoriously chaotic, over-edited action sequences that make fights nearly incomprehensible — a step down even within the series. Novelty is essentially nil: this is a derivative sequel to a derivative franchise, recycling its own established tropes. The ending attempts finality but feels rushed and narratively convenient rather than earned, closing the series on an underwhelming note.
