Quartile rating: 7/10 · 1 rating
A gang of gold thieves land in a coven of witches who are preparing for an ancient ritual... and in need of a sacrifice.
Alex de la Iglesia's anarchic Spanish genre mashup is genuinely distinctive — blending heist comedy, domestic satire, and gonzo witch-horror into something wholly its own. The film's wild energy and irreverent tone give it strong Novelty, and the performances commit enthusiastically to the chaos. The cinematography is competent and serviceable for the genre. The plot is entertainingly absurd but somewhat loose and episodic. The climax and finale overstay their welcome, becoming cluttered and losing narrative momentum, earning a below-average Ending score.
