With only 12 percent of its pupils obtaining their baccalaureate, Jules Ferry High School is the worst school in France. The Inspector of Schools has already exhausted all the conventional means to raise standards at the school and he has no choice but to take the advice of his deputy. It is a case of having to fight fire with fire: the worst pupils must be taught by the worst teachers...
Serial Teachers is a French comedy with a fairly thin and formulaic premise — putting bad teachers with bad students is a well-worn setup that doesn't break new ground. The execution is broad and uneven, relying on slapstick and caricature rather than sharp writing. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable, and the visual style is flat and TV-movie in quality. The ending wraps up predictably with little surprise. A middling, forgettable comedy that coasts on its central conceit without developing it into anything memorable.
