Russian Dolls is a pleasant but somewhat lightweight sequel to L'Auberge Espagnole, following Xavier and his friends across European cities as they navigate love and adulthood. The plot is charming but episodic and meandering, lacking the freshness of the original. The acting remains natural and engaging from the ensemble cast, though nothing especially stands out. Cinematography is functional and captures the European settings adequately but without particular visual ambition. Novelty is low — this is a straightforward sequel that recycles the same characters and milieu without significantly expanding the formula. The ending ties things together in a satisfying if conventional romantic comedy fashion.
