Lizzie McGuire has graduated from middle school and takes a trip to Rome, Italy with her class. And what was supposed to be only a normal trip, becomes a teenager's dream come true.
A pleasant but formulaic fish-out-of-water teen comedy that hits familiar beats without much surprise. The Rome setting adds visual charm and elevates cinematography above average, and Hilary Duff carries the lead role with genuine likability. However, the plot — mistaken identity, pop star dreams, romance — is thoroughly generic, and the film brings little that distinguishes it beyond its TV-show fanbase appeal. The ending wraps up neatly but predictably, landing squarely in serviceable territory.
