The Quartile Take

Quest for Camelot is a largely forgettable late-90s Warner Bros. animated musical that attempts to ride the Disney Renaissance wave without matching its craft. The plot is a formulaic hero's journey that borrows liberally from established Arthurian legend and animated conventions, offering little surprise. The voice cast (including Gary Oldman as villain Ruber) provides competent work, elevating the material somewhat. Visually, the animation is inconsistent and lacks the polish of its contemporaries, with flat backgrounds and uneven character movement. The film has a few memorable musical moments but nothing truly distinctive in either conception or execution, feeling derivative of better films. The ending resolves predictably and hastily, leaving little emotional resonance.
