Following an assassination attempt on Senator Padmé Amidala, Jedi Knights Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi investigate a mysterious plot that could change the galaxy forever.
Attack of the Clones is widely considered the weakest entry in the Star Wars saga. The plot is convoluted and poorly paced, splitting between a bland detective mystery and a cringe-worthy romance subplot. Anakin and Padmé's dialogue is notoriously stilted, and Hayden Christensen's performance is stiff, pulling down the acting score considerably despite capable work from Ewan McGregor and Christopher Lee. Visually, it was a pioneering all-digital production with striking environments like Kamino and the Geonosis arena, earning it a modest cinematography bump. Novelty suffers as it largely retreads Star Wars tropes in a less inspired way than its predecessor, though the clone army concept adds something new. The arena battle and Yoda lightsaber duel provide an entertaining climax that partially redeems the film's weak midsection.
