The evil Darth Sidious enacts his final plan for unlimited power -- and the heroic Jedi Anakin Skywalker must choose a side.
Revenge of the Sith is the strongest of the prequel trilogy, carried largely by its emotionally weighty ending — Anakin's full turn to the dark side, Order 66, and the birth of Darth Vader deliver genuine tragic payoff that earns a high Ending score. The plot is ambitious in scope but hampered by clunky dialogue, rushed character motivations (Anakin's turn feels compressed), and political exposition that drags. Acting is a persistent weakness: even talented performers like Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman are let down by stilted delivery and weak scripting, while Hayden Christensen remains unconvincing as the tragic hero. Cinematography is serviceable and occasionally striking — the Mustafar duel and some space battles are visually impressive — but the over-reliance on digital environments gives much of the film a flat, sterile look. Novelty is low; despite being the culmination of the prequel arc, it largely follows a familiar and expected formula, with few genuinely surprising storytelling choices beyond what was already telegraphed by the original trilogy.
