After discovering her boyfriend is married, Carly soon meets the wife he's been cheating on. And when yet another affair is discovered, all three women team up to plot mutual revenge on the three-timing SOB.
The Other Woman is a fairly formulaic revenge-comedy that leans heavily on genre conventions — the wronged women teaming up against a cheating man is well-trodden territory. The plot is predictable and relies on broad comedic set pieces rather than sharp writing. The acting is a genuine highlight, with Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Kate Upton sharing decent chemistry, and Mann in particular delivering committed physical comedy. Cinematography is serviceable but unremarkable, with no distinctive visual identity. The ending delivers the expected catharsis but without real surprise. Novelty is low given how closely it hews to the buddy-revenge-comedy formula without a distinctive voice or fresh angle.
