The Quartile Take

Fools Rush In is a fairly formulaic romantic comedy elevated somewhat by the genuine chemistry between Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek. The culture-clash premise had potential but is handled in a conventional, predictable way with the expected misunderstandings and reconciliations. Perry translates his comedic timing from Friends reasonably well, and Hayek brings warmth and charisma to her role. The Las Vegas and Southwest desert cinematography adds some visual interest but isn't notably distinctive. The ending resolves neatly but satisfyingly within genre expectations. Overall a watchable but unremarkable mid-90s romcom.
