Two crew members wake up on an abandoned spacecraft with no idea who they are, how long they've been asleep, or what their mission is. The two soon discover they're actually not alone – and the reality of their situation is more horrifying than they could have imagined.
Pandorum is a competent sci-fi horror thriller that blends elements of Event Horizon, Aliens, and Descent into a claustrophobic space survival story. The amnesia-driven mystery plot is engaging enough, with some decent twists, though it leans heavily on familiar genre tropes. Acting is serviceable — Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster do solid work without being exceptional. Cinematography is appropriately gloomy and oppressive, effective at conveying dread in tight corridors, though not particularly distinctive. Novelty is moderate — the creature-infested spacecraft with psychological horror elements has been done before, and while Pandorum blends genres with some personality, it never truly transcends its influences. The ending, while attempting a grand revelation, feels rushed and somewhat unsatisfying, undermining the tension built throughout.
