Broke, and in desperate need to update her portfolio, New York City model Katie calls a number from a tear-off flyer offering free photos. But this innocent attempt quickly turns into an unthinkable kidnapping nightmare where she's ripped away from everyone and everything she knows.
A by-the-numbers sequel to an already niche rape-revenge franchise, I Spit on Your Grave 2 offers little that distinguishes it from its predecessor or the broader exploitation subgenre. The plot follows an almost identical template — victimization, captivity, escape, revenge — with minimal narrative innovation. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with performances that rarely elevate the material. Cinematography is functional and gritty but uninspired, leaning on familiar horror aesthetics. Novelty is the film's weakest point: it is a direct sequel recycling the same premise with a new setting (Bulgaria) as its only real variation, making it highly derivative. The revenge-focused ending delivers the genre catharsis expected by fans, earning a slight edge over the rest of the film.
