Agent Peggy Carter is relegated to a desk job and frustrated at her male boss and comrades' sexist dismissal of her place in the SSR. Ordered to work late one night, Carter gets an alert that the villain Zodiac has been spotted and decides to take care of it herself.
A solid, entertaining Marvel short that gives Peggy Carter a satisfying spotlight moment. The plot is straightforward wish-fulfillment — dismissed agent proves herself in a single mission — but executed with charm and efficiency for a short-form piece. Hayley Atwell is magnetic and convincing in the role, carrying the film with charisma and physicality. Cinematography is competent MCU-standard work without any standout visual ambition. Novelty gets a modest boost for being a rare, well-executed short film format within the MCU, centering a period-set female protagonist, though the underestimated-woman-proves-doubters-wrong arc is a familiar beat. The ending, with the S.H.I.E.L.D. twist reveal, is a pleasing payoff for MCU fans. Across the board this is a capable, above-average short that exceeds its modest scope without excelling in any single dimension.
