Masterminds is a broadly comedic retelling of the 1997 Loomis Fargo robbery, leaning heavily on its SNL-alumni cast (Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis) for laughs rather than crafting a tight heist narrative. The plot is loose and episodic, relying on broad Southern-stereotype humor that wears thin. The ensemble cast delivers some genuine comedic moments but the material rarely matches their talents.
