Left Behind (2014)

Quartile rating: 4.5/10 · 1 rating

A small group of survivors are left behind after millions of people suddenly vanish during the rapture and the world is plunged into chaos and destruction.

The Quartile Take

The 2014 Nicolas Cage remake of Left Behind is widely regarded as a poorly executed faith-based disaster thriller. The plot is thin and predictable, largely confined to a single airplane with little dramatic tension. Cage's performance is notably flat and uninspired, and the supporting cast fares no better, earning a well-below-average acting score. Cinematography is serviceable but unremarkable, typical of low-budget productions. Novelty is low given it is a remake of an already existing film based on a popular book series, recycling familiar rapture-disaster tropes without adding anything distinctive. The ending is abrupt and unsatisfying, failing to deliver meaningful resolution or emotional payoff.
