In Los Angeles, an ex-con takes the underground fighting world by storm in his quest to fulfill a promise to a dead friend.
Blood and Bone is a solid B-movie martial arts actioner elevated primarily by Michael Jai White's commanding physical presence and genuinely impressive fight choreography. The plot is a familiar underground-fighting-world revenge/honor premise with little to distinguish it narratively, and the acting outside of White is serviceable at best. The cinematography captures the fights competently with decent production value for its budget. It offers nothing particularly novel in concept but executes its genre beats with enough energy to satisfy fans. The ending wraps things up adequately without surprise.
