With the departure of the Bush Administration and the arrival of an “era of transparency,” opportunities are arising for the disclosure of new information that may shed more light on the events that took place before and after 9/11/2001. Loaded with powerful, new footage and in-depth interviews this documentary presents a wide array of evidence both known and unknown…until now.
Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup is a revised edition of the earlier Loose Change films, presenting 9/11 conspiracy theories with updated footage and interviews. The plot structure follows a familiar conspiratorial narrative arc that, by 2009, had become a well-worn format in truther documentaries. Acting is largely irrelevant in the documentary context, with talking heads and narration being serviceable but unremarkable. Cinematography relies heavily on archival news footage and low-budget interview setups, offering little visual distinction. Novelty is limited as this is essentially a third iteration of the same Loose Change thesis, treading very familiar ground within its own franchise and the broader conspiracy documentary genre. The ending offers no real resolution or new revelations, wrapping up with the standard conspiratorial call-to-action. Overall, a competent but largely derivative entry in a crowded subgenre.
