A cabdriver and a cop race to Paris to rescue a love interest and the Japanese minister of defense from kidnappers.
Taxi 2 is a serviceable but formulaic sequel to the French action-comedy hit. The plot recycles the buddy-cop formula with a yakuza twist that feels thin and predictable. Acting is functional but unremarkable, leaning on broad comedy without much depth. The cinematography and car chase sequences show some energy and slick production values typical of Luc Besson productions. Novelty is low as it largely repeats the first film's formula without adding much new. The ending wraps up conventionally with little surprise.
