A police officer and a psychologist investigate the deaths of five people who were killed while trying to summon ghosts.
Demonic is a fairly formulaic found-footage/supernatural horror entry that blends haunted house tropes with a police procedural framing. The plot retreads well-worn ghost-summoning and possession territory without meaningful subversion, and the acting is serviceable but unremarkable. The cinematography gets a slight boost for competently mixing infrared and found-footage aesthetics with its conventional framing device. Novelty is low given how thoroughly it recycles genre conventions. The ending offers little payoff, falling into predictable possession-reveal territory that fails to elevate the preceding mystery.
