Dug is sent on foolish missions by Alpha, Beta, and Gamma so they can hunt for the Bird of Paradise Falls by themselves. Dug may find that where he belongs is not where he's been looking.
This Pixar short serves as a companion piece to Up, focusing on Dug being sidelined by the pack. The plot is thin and largely functional — a comedic filler designed to flesh out the antagonist dogs before the main film. The animation and voice work are solid and consistent with Pixar's high standards, but it adds little new ground beyond what Up already established. The ending provides a warm, fitting emotional payoff consistent with Dug's character arc in the main film, but the overall piece is slight and derivative of its parent feature.
