The 2015 Point Break remake offers little beyond stunning extreme sports footage shot across exotic global locations — its one genuine asset. The plot is a watered-down retread of the 1991 original with none of the charisma or tension, the acting is wooden and forgettable, and the ending lacks the emotional punch of its predecessor. As a remake that adds almost nothing new conceptually and fails to match the original's cult appeal, Novelty scores rock bottom. The cinematography of the extreme sports sequences is legitimately impressive, earning a modest bump there.
