The Quartile Take

Behaving Badly is a formulaic teen comedy that recycles well-worn tropes of the lovesick teenager pursuing his dream girl while navigating outrageous adult characters. The plot is predictable and derivative, borrowing liberally from similar raunchy coming-of-age comedies without adding anything fresh. The acting is serviceable at best, with the cast doing little to elevate the generic material. Cinematography is standard for the genre with no distinctive visual choices. The ending follows the expected trajectory without surprise. Novelty is its weakest point as it offers almost nothing that distinguishes it from dozens of similar films.
