Monster Trucks is a harmless family adventure with a genuinely quirky creature-in-the-engine premise that gives it a modest novelty edge over standard kids fare. The plot is thin and predictable, hitting every expected beat of the boy-and-his-creature formula without much surprise. Acting is functional at best — the cast does what the material asks but little more. Cinematography is serviceable with decent practical stunt work and some energetic truck sequences that elevate the visual side slightly above average.
