Quartile rating: 5/10 · 1 rating
A former soldier is taken captive and awakens in the back of a van where he learns that he only has less than 10 minutes to figure out how he got there.
The Anomaly offers a mildly intriguing sci-fi premise centered on fragmented consciousness and time-limited awareness, reminiscent of Source Code but with considerably less polish. The plot is serviceable but muddled, failing to fully capitalize on its central conceit. Acting is unremarkable across the board, with Noel Clarke directing himself without much charisma or depth. Cinematography is functional but uninspired, leaning on generic future-thriller aesthetics. The 10-minute window mechanic gives it a slight novelty edge, even if execution falls short. The ending is weak and unsatisfying, failing to deliver the payoff the premise promises.
