God contacts Junior Congressman Evan Baxter and tells him to build an ark in preparation for a great flood.
Evan Almighty is a high-budget but underwhelming comedy sequel that recycles the premise of Bruce Almighty while pivoting to a Noah's Ark parody. The plot is thin and predictable, hitting familiar beats of reluctant protagonist, family tension, and miraculous resolution without much surprise. Steve Carell is likable and commits to the physical comedy, and Morgan Freeman brings effortless charm as God, elevating the acting above the material. Cinematography is functional family-film fare with little visual distinction despite the large production scale. Novelty is low — it's a spin-off built on a familiar concept executed in a by-the-numbers way. The ending resolves tidily but without emotional resonance or genuine wit.
