The Quartile Take

Skiptrace is a formulaic buddy-cop action comedy pairing Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville, offering little beyond the well-worn mismatched-duo template. The plot is predictable and thin, the comedy largely relies on slapstick and culture-clash gags, and the acting is serviceable at best with Knoxville's comedic style clashing awkwardly with Chan's physicality. The cinematography benefits from varied location shooting across Asia and Russia, giving it some visual appeal, but the action sequences lack the creative choreography of Chan's best work. The ending is conventional and unsurprising. Overall a middling, derivative entry in Chan's later career output.
