Three scouts and lifelong friends join forces with one badass cocktail waitress to become the world’s most unlikely team of heroes. When their peaceful town is ravaged by a zombie invasion, they’ll fight for the badge of a lifetime and put their scouting skills to the test to save mankind from the undead.
Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is a fairly by-the-numbers zom-com that leans heavily on familiar genre tropes — ragtag teen heroes, gross-out gags, and a zombie outbreak in a small town. The plot is predictable and offers little beyond genre conventions, hitting standard beats without much surprise. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with the young leads delivering passable but forgettable performances. Cinematography is competent genre work with decent practical gore effects that elevate it slightly above average for its budget tier. Novelty is low — the Boy Scouts angle is a thin hook that doesn't fundamentally distinguish it from dozens of similar teen horror-comedies. The ending resolves things exactly as expected with no real surprises, wrapping up in formulaic fashion.
