Arthur Bishop thought he had put his murderous past behind him when his most formidable foe kidnaps the love of his life. Now he is forced to travel the globe to complete three impossible assassinations, and do what he does best, make them look like accidents.
Mechanic: Resurrection is a serviceable but formulaic action sequel. The globe-trotting premise and three-assassination structure give it some variety, but the plot is thin and predictable, relying heavily on genre clichés including a kidnapped love interest as motivation. Jason Statham delivers his reliable stoic action-hero performance and Jessica Alba and Tommy Lee Jones add little depth. The cinematography benefits from exotic locations like Thailand, Bulgaria, and Australia, giving the film visual appeal above its narrative weight. The film offers little that distinguishes it from dozens of similar action thrillers, and the ending wraps up with minimal surprise or impact.
