Forty years after his unforgettable first case in Beverly Hills, Detroit cop Axel Foley returns to do what he does best: solve crimes and cause chaos.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is a nostalgia-driven sequel that leans heavily on the charm of Eddie Murphy and callbacks to the original trilogy. The plot is formulaic buddy-cop fare with a daughter-in-jeopardy hook that offers little surprise, and the cinematography is functional Netflix-level work without visual distinction. Murphy himself brings genuine energy and remains charismatic, elevating the material somewhat, and the supporting cast including returning faces adds warmth. However, the film is largely derivative, recycling familiar beats from the franchise without meaningfully building on them. The ending resolves predictably. It's a pleasant but unremarkable revival that satisfies fans of the original without doing anything new.
