Wanted by the mafia, a New York City bike messenger escapes into the world of parkour after meeting a beautiful stranger.
Tracers is a serviceable but forgettable action film built around parkour as its main hook. The plot is thin and predictable — a bike messenger entangled with the Chinese mafia is a recycled premise elevated only slightly by the parkour setting. Taylor Lautner's acting is adequate but unremarkable, and the supporting cast doesn't elevate the material. The cinematography earns a mild bump for capturing the kinetic energy of parkour sequences in New York City with reasonable flair. Novelty gets a slight lift because parkour-centric action films remain a niche subgenre and the NYC backdrop adds some texture, but the execution is too formulaic to score higher. The ending is weak and unsatisfying, wrapping up the mafia conflict in a rushed, unearned fashion.
