It's Charlie Sheen's turn to step in to the celebrity hot seat for the latest installment of The Comedy Central Roast.
A standard Comedy Central Roast format applied to Charlie Sheen at the peak of his 'winning' media frenzy. The roasters deliver some memorably sharp burns — Mike Tyson and Steve-O among the standouts — and the target's willing self-deprecation adds energy. However, the format is entirely formulaic, the cinematography is basic TV production, and the structure offers nothing structurally new. The novelty is minimal as it follows the same roast template, though the cultural moment (Sheen's very public meltdown) gives it a slight edge in topicality. Entertaining but unremarkable as a production.
